National Formosa University (NFU) has partnered with Delta Electronics' Mechatronics Group to establish the "Delta Electronics–NFU Smart Mechatronics Laboratory," with the unveiling ceremony held on Friday, November 7. NFU invested NT$10 million in establishing the laboratory, while Delta donated NT$6 million worth of "Smart Mechatronics Integrated Application Practical Teaching Equipment." The lab integrates resources across colleges and serves as a campus-wide talent cultivation base for smart mechatronics and industry applications.

Delta's donated "Smart Mechatronics Integrated Application Practical Teaching Equipment" includes programmable controllers, motion controllers, servo drive systems, smart meters, machine vision, digital twin systems, and vertical multi-joint robots. These advanced devices are widely applied in smart manufacturing, mechatronic integration, automation, and green energy management, providing NFU faculty and students with the latest practical platforms and experimental resources.

The unveiling ceremony was jointly led by NFU Vice President Fang Zhao-Xun and Delta Mechatronics Group Vice President Cai Qing-Xiong, who also signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). Both parties aim to cultivate talents in smart mechatronics, with Delta providing technical support, industry lecturers, and internship resources. Together with NFU, they will design teaching content, promote integrated research and teaching, and propose R&D and project collaboration based on industry trends to deepen academic-industry connections.

Vice President Cai stated that Delta has long focused on industrial automation and smart manufacturing, promoting technological innovation and sustainable development. Establishing the smart mechatronics laboratory with NFU is a concrete action to fulfill corporate social responsibility and contribute to industry-academia education.

Cai added that by providing industry-grade equipment and technical resources, Delta enhances teaching facilities and collaborates with faculty and students to explore advanced technologies such as mechatronic integration, intelligent control, and green energy management. The goal is to cultivate future talents with cross-disciplinary practical skills, injecting new vitality into the industry.

NFU Vice President Fang Zhao-Xun emphasized that under President Zhang Xin-Liang, the university has actively integrated cross-college resources to build shared laboratories, maximizing teaching resource utilization. Close cooperation with industry strengthens talent development and accelerates industrial upgrading. The Smart Mechatronics Laboratory will initially serve the College of Engineering and College of Electrical and Computer Science in teaching mechatronic integration and ICT, enabling more students to access expensive equipment.

Fang also noted that as campus courses and resources continue to integrate, the laboratory model can gradually expand to the College of Management and College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, supporting key interdisciplinary courses. The university will continue to expand resource sharing and course collaboration according to overall development plans and teaching needs.
