National Formosa University (NFU) held the 45th Anniversary Opening Press Conference on Monday, November 17, themed "Tiger Roars, Inspiring the Future," showcasing the university’s diverse achievements in local engagement, technological research, and international exchange. Distinguished guests from academia, industry, and government attended, including Chen Yi-Fan, Deputy Executive Director of the Yun-Chia-Nan Regional Joint Service Center, Wu Ming-Hua, Director of the Fifth River Management Office, Charles Chai, Vice Chairman of the Malaysia Business and Industrial Association, and representatives from Leihu, Carbonbase, Kunwei Technology, and Changyang Industry, collectively celebrating NFU’s accomplishments in smart innovation, talent cultivation, and community prosperity.

NFU also participated in the Ministry of Economic Affairs’ Water Resources Agency project, "Tiger Tide: Resilient Town Waterfront Integration Project." During the press conference, the "Tiger Tide – Waterfront Renewal" inauguration ceremony was held, where Chen Yi-Fan, Wu Ming-Hua, and NFU President Chang Hsin-Liang jointly announced the completion of the first phase of the Tiger Tide project. NFU will officially manage and maintain the project, highlighting three key goals: flood safety, ecological sustainability, and community co-prosperity.

Deputy Executive Director Chen Yi-Fan remarked that NFU has actively invested in key areas such as drones, AI, and precision manufacturing in recent years, aligning with government-led forward-looking initiatives, demonstrating strong momentum in technological research and interdisciplinary education. The "Tiger Tide" project exemplifies sustainable development and the USR spirit, successfully creating resilient and friendly urban spaces through environmental regeneration, educational engagement, and social connection. He also praised NFU’s innovation, sustainability, and student-centered educational philosophy, which continues to enhance campus infrastructure and talent development.

President Chang Hsin-Liang noted that NFU has been actively promoting campus development, including the construction of the Smart Machinery Center, Precision Cutting Center, Aviation Maintenance Building, and International Industry-Academia Building in the High-Speed Rail Zone, with a total investment exceeding NT$1 billion, expected to complete by December. This marks a major milestone in campus development. NFU also leads nationwide in AI education, celebrating the first graduating class of the AI Talent Program this year, reflecting forward-looking achievements.

President Chang emphasized plans to accelerate the establishment of an Aviation College, strengthening the talent pipeline for drones and aviation maintenance, while continuing to deepen local engagement and international collaboration, guided by innovation, sustainability, and a student-centered approach toward a brighter future.

For this year’s anniversary, the Malaysian Alumni Association specially presented a “Moon Kite” as a cultural gift, symbolizing cultural heritage, delivered by Charles Chai, Vice Chairman of the Malaysia Business and Industrial Association. He remarked that NFU’s international education initiatives attract students from Southeast Asia, including Malaysia. The cultural gift represents cross-cultural learning achievements and adds a meaningful humanistic highlight to the 45th-anniversary celebrations.

One highlight of the event was the AI Talent Program graduation ceremony. Leveraging 45 years of engineering expertise, NFU integrated drones, AI, and smart manufacturing to implement the Ministry of Economic Affairs’ AI Talent Program, offering a rare dual-core curriculum in drones and AI. This year, all 40 participating university students completed the program and received corporate employment qualifications, ready to contribute immediately to industry. Corporate representatives including Zhong Wen-Long (Founder, Carbonbase Technology), Liu Jun-Yi (CEO, Kunwei Technology), and Dr. Guo Yong-Qing (Head of Commercial Drone & AI Division, Leihu Technology) attended the certification ceremony, witnessing NFU’s talent cultivation achievements in "Intelligent Innovation for the Future."

The academic highlights during the anniversary week included the "61st Annual Conference of the Chinese Society for Quality & 50th Kaohsiung Branch Annual Meeting" and the "International Symposium on Quality Management (ISQM 2025)," attracting over 250 experts, scholars, and industry leaders from seven countries to NFU, jointly discussing AI empowerment and industrial management solutions for efficiency and environmental sustainability.

NFU’s 45th-anniversary series offers a variety of activities, including a university and high school competition and R&D showcase on November 20, a celebratory concert on November 21, sports games from November 21–22, and a campus fair on November 22, inviting the public to enjoy food, performances, and interactive experiences.
